God's word brings the supernatural to ordinary things when we obey its
instructions. The rod in the hands of Moses was only natural until God's
word came for him to throw it down, and it became supernatural; Peter's
empty net was only natural until he obeyed God's word to cast it again,
and the result was a supernatural provision; in the same way, the
little in your hands is only natural until God's word places a demand on
it, and it results in a supernatural visitation; the widow's oil in the
jar was only natural until God's word placed a demand on it, and it
became a supernatural provision for her. On and on, we can give examples
in scripture.
Very often, we are believing God for
the supernatural, but fail to understand that it takes something natural
that is already in our hands to bring about the supernatural that we
are trusting God to give. When God's word demands us to do anything with
the natural thing in our hands, God's 'super' is ready to be added to
our 'natural', when we obey. But how do we know that God is placing a
demand on something natural in our hands? Fellowship with God is key to
knowing the mind of God. Apart from this fellowship, we are left with
only the flesh and the natural. Sometimes, it will take God passing
through His servants to call our attention to what is in our hands as
was the case with Elijah and the widow at Zerephath. But whatever means
that God chooses to use in calling our attention to what is in our
hands, it requires a response of obedience from us if the supernatural
is to result.
