Walking in the Anointing

"How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him." Acts 10:38

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised." Luke 4:18

The anointing is an enablement given by the Holy Spirit to do a particular task or series of tasks. God does not call anyone to an assignment without anointing him for the assignment. There is nothing in the physical that shows that one has been anointed, the anointing works when we go about the thing to which we have been assigned. In Acts, we are told that God anointed Jesus with the Holy Ghost, and He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with Him.

Notice that Jesus was first anointed, but that anointing only manifested its potential when He went about doing what He was called to do, which was healing all who were oppressed by the devil. There was no way He could have done this if He did not step out into what He was called to do. The same is true for us, we will not experience the manifestation of the anointing if we don't step out by faith into doing what we have been assigned to do. It is in stepping out that what is latent becomes manifest. The sad testimony of many believers is vast potential of God's anointing in them that lies dormant, waiting to be triggered into action by simple faith.
