I have an obligation to those who are civilized and those
who aren't, to those who are wise and those who aren't. Romans 1:14
The
grace of God that you are given makes you a debtor to those that God
leads
up to you or assigns to you. To receive grace, whatever it may be, is to
be
indebted to those for whom it is given. Paul laboured tirelessly in the
grace of God given him to the extent that he could say that he had not
received the grace of God in vain. It is remarkable how much faith God
has in
us that such an important assignment as bringing the gospel to a dying
world is committed
to us. This does not mean that we are able to do anything in our own
strength,
but rather that through God's grace given us, we are able to do all
things
assigned to us by Him.
Those
given such privileges as this must see it as an
obligation they owe, not just to God who called them, but also to those
to whom
they are sent. The obligation is to deliver the message given them as
accurately as they possibly can, depending on the Holy Spirit for help
and guidance. Your own assignment may seem insignificant to you, but in
the arithmetic of God, it is indispensable. It is for this reason that
everyone who has received grace should labour in it to ensure that they
have not received it in vain.
