"I'm going out to fish," Simon Peter told them, and they said,
"We'll go with you." So they went out and got into the boat, but that
night they caught nothing. John 21:3
On the sea
of Galilee, Jesus was in the boat with Peter, and there was a great
catch, but on this occasion, Jesus was not in the boat with them. So
they toiled through the night and caught nothing. How instructive this
story is for us, to remind us that we should ensure that we have Jesus
in our boats at all time.
The failed expedition
was a self-inspired project that was bound for the rock as it had to
depend on their skills. But when Jesus is involved in our projects, we
can rest assured that grace will be available to bring whatever
resources that will be needed for it to succeed. We can, like Moses,
say, unless God comes with us, we will not take a step. God's presence
in our endeavours is the only assurance for success.
