Raising Godly Heritage

The Bible refers to children as God's heritage (Psalms 127:3). Being a parent does not necessary mean that one must give birth to a child. There are few examples of people who acted as foster parents in the Bible. Eli raised Samuel; Pharaoh's daughter raised Moses and Esther was raised by an uncle, Mordecai.

As a parent, you must understand the time we are in. This is a perilous time when the devil is on the prowl to destroy the family.  Proverbs 22:6 admonishes parents to give a child a proper training and to do this; one must understand the different phases in the development of a child.

The first phase is the Innocent Phase when a child imitates the parents. This is when the child should be trusted. This phase lasts for about seven years and gives way to the Phase of Assertion. In this phase, the child would want explanation to every rule which the parents command obedience. This phase can last even to the university level. Parent should be humble enough to give their children logical explanation to why they want them to behave in a certain way or to do certain things. After this phase, comes that of reason when the child begins to reason just like an adult. At this level, training should be practical and theory. Parent should be bold enough to lead their children to Christ.

Prophetic Word: "God is doing something you don't know that He is doing."
