The Coming Day of Wrath and Judgment

"But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God." Romans 2:5

In Romans 1:18, we are told that the wrath of God is revealed against the ungodliness and unrighteousness of men. This does not say that the wrath of God has been released upon ungodly and unrighteous men, but that in the present time God's wrath has been revealed upon their ungodliness and unrighteousness.

On its part, Romans 2:5 makes clear that those who persist in ungodliness and unrighteousness are heaping up to themselves wrath, which will be executed against them in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God. In the day when this will happen, nothing but eternal damnation can be expected. When that day comes, God will "...render to every man according to his deeds". However, in the day (now) when the wrath of God is being revealed against the ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, there can be repentance.

But in what ways is the wrath of God being revealed to the ungodliness and unrighteousness of men in this present time? Romans 1:28 gives an answer to this question when it says "And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient." The sins of homosexuality, and idolatry are God's wrath revealed against the ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who refuse to retain God in their knowledge.
