We all Serve one Master or Another

That everyone serves one master or the other is a truism. What is equally true is that we all do not serve the same master. Another truism is the fact that whatever it is that each person serves significantly affects the way that he/she will conduct his life. Since these are true sayings, the question that we all must ask is, how am I being affected by what I am serving? So, let us consider some of those things that people often serve with their lives. Some people serve self, others serve their passions, yet, some serve the pleasure that they derive from sin, for others, they give their lives to the service of God.

It is not in my position to pass a judgment on anyone for the master they serve with their lives, my intention is to ask some questions that will enable each person to reasonably judge for himself what has been gained from such services. So, here are some questions:
1. How much of itself or himself has the object of your service given solely for your good?
2. What hope does it give you regarding the day when you will have no strength to continue in their service?
3. What promise has it made to you regarding the day of your death?

The questions that can be asked are numerous, but let us limit them to just these three.

I once served the master of lust and pleasures, but at the end, it left me in the ruins of shame and misery. All that it offered me depleted in value, and I always was the one that paid for serving it. Then, I met another master who unlike my first master, gave of Himself to clean up the mess that my first master left me in. Whatever He asks of me was predicated on what He did in giving of Himself for me, and I found out that everything that He asked of me was for my good. Even at that, He never left me to do, by myself, those things that He asked of me, He helped me to do them by His Spirit that He gave me.

To my amazement, He has made provision for the day when I will have no strength to continue to serve Him in this body. And when that day shall come, He has promised to give me a new body that cannot die again, and that new body is made to suit the glorious provisions of the coming life. I just thought to share with you what my own experience is with my Master. I will be glad to hear from you about the master that you are serving. Thanks.
