"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
God had a score to settle with sinners, but He settled it in His only begotten Son on the cross. Now that Jesus has been punished in our place, everyone who comes by faith in what He accomplished on cross is forgiven, no matter the weight of the sin. But when this offer of salvation, provided at the expense of His Son, is rejected, God will have no choice, but to settle His score with sin in the one who rejects His offer of forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
Not a single sin, no matter how little, will ever go past the eyes of God without being either: forgiven through the blood of Jesus Christ, or punished with everlasting destruction when found on anyone who stands apart from Jesus. Every sin that is not discounted in Christ must be punished wherever it is found. If you reject God's offer of forgiveness of your sin through Jesus Christ, you will have to take responsibility for it, and it is a fearful thing to met God without Jesus. The good news is that it is not late to turn to Jesus today; in simple faith you can confess Him as Lord, and believe that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved, for it is written, as many as received Him, to them He gave power to become sons of God. This is how easy it is to get saved.
