The question, who created the Creator, can only strive on the
supposition that the being that created all things must logically have
another being that created him. In other words, He must have a
beginning. However, the Christian worldview of God makes this question
untenable because in the bible, God introduced Himself as an eternal
being having no beginning nor end. The apostle John introduced his
gospel in a most remarkable way, saying, "In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... All things were made
through Him, and without Him, nothing was made that was made." Clearly,
God is shown to have been before the beginning, which consists of time,
space and matter.
The trouble with those who ask the question, who created God, is that they get to the point where they have no logical explanation for the existence of a Creator that was not created. But this should not be a problem because there are many things that they believe which they cannot logically explain, yet, they don't conclude that those things don't exist simply because they have no logical explanation for them. Life is one of those created things that we all cannot fully comprehend because of its complexity. If life is complex, and it is, how much more infinitely complex do you think that the eternal Creator will be that created life?
"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord." Isaiah 55:8
But God has made His thoughts known to us in His word, therefore, when His word shapes our thinking, then will His thoughts become our thoughts and His ways our ways. At this point, such questions as, who created God will become unnecessary because His word answers the question of His origin: He is of old, from everlasting. Micah 5:2
As an atheist, the question that once fuelled my folly was this: 'if everything was supposedly made by a being called God, then who made God?' And if we can find who made God, then the question goes on unending because we will then ask, who made the being that made the being that is called God? Any god that is created is an idol, and the God of the Bible is not in that class.
"With whom took He counsel, and who instructed Him, and taught Him in the path of judgment, and taught Him knowledge, and showed to Him the way of understanding?" Isaiah 40:14
When people ask, who created God? They certainly are not asking concerning the God of the bible because this is what the God of the Bible says of Himself: no one taught Me knowledge; no one showed Me the way of understanding; I took counsel with no one; and no one instructed and taught Me the path of judgment. In other words, He is God by Himself. The God of the Bible is a self-existent Being that owes nothing to anyone.
Finally, we must conclude by saying that the question, who created God springs from ignorance of the truth captured in Isaiah 40:28. "Have you not known? Have you not heard? The EVERLASTING God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. Ther is no searching out His understanding." Attempting to search out the understanding of One whose understanding is unsearchable is central to the question, who created God? All who are ignorant of the truth that God is an everlasting God, cannot but ask, who created the Creator?
