Ancient Prophecy, Tomorrow's Reality

"Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; be thou a covert to them from the face of the spoiler: for the extortioner is at an end, the spoiler ceaseth, the oppressors are consumed out of the land." Isaiah 16:4

This prophecy is about the time of Jacob's trouble, when the Antichrist, here called the spoiler and extortioner, will come against Israel in the battle of Armageddon. Moab is to provide passage for Jews escaping from the Antichrist. This is a place that God prepared as a shelter for Israel during this time of her trouble.

The prophecy also reveals the end of the Antichrist who will be roundly defeated in this battle. God says that the spoiler ceases, and the oppressors are consumed out of the land. This is a sure picture of what will happen in the last days of this age. The book of Revelation makes reference to this ancient prophecy in Revelation 12:14. "But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time, from the presence of the serpent." The wilderness where she is nourished for a time is Moab which Isaiah prophesied in Isaiah 16:4.

"And in mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness." Isaiah 16:5

As soon as the spoiler ceases, and the oppressors are consumed out of the land, the Messiah's throne will be established. This is the restoration of the tabernacle of David by the Son of David. All the ancient prophets looked to this moment when the kingdom will be restored to Israel. The apostles asked Jesus in Acts 1:6, "Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?" Israel lives daily with this hope, that one day, the Messiah will come and establish the throne of David that had been out of contention for ages. Israel will again become the envy of the nations, and a blessing to the nations.
