The Court of Divine Justice

"...For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down." Revelation 12:10

Night and day, the Bible says that Satan accuses us before our God. His accusations are predicated on what we do or fail to do. But in the court of divine justice, all his accusations, no matter how factually founded, lack merit, and this, not because we did not do those things that we are accused of, but because in that court, we have an Advocate who, on our behalf, fulfilled every requirement of the law, and His merit is imputed to our account.

When for example, our accuser says to God, "You can't bless him because yesterday, he lied about this and that", our Advocate replies, "My blood is constantly cleansing him from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:7). In Satan's hate for us, he easily forgets what happened on the cross; so, remind him that on the cross, an exchange took place, all of your sins were put on Christ, and His righteousness was imputed to you, and by this exchange, you stand before the court of divine justice guiltless. But never forget that it is not because of any good thing which you have done.

But the devil does not only accuse us before our God, he also accuses us in our conscience. He does this by bringing to our minds our shortcomings, and try to make us believe that we are still sinners, and that God does not hear the prayers of sinners. This, though, is partly true, God does not hear the prayers of sinners, but the entire truth is that we are not sinners because we sinned, just as we are not righteous because of any good thing that we have done. Our righteousness is on the strength of what Christ did on the cross. If any man be in Christ, old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). So, when next the devil comes accusing you, point him to the cross. End of discussion!
