And the LORD said to Satan, "I, the LORD, reject your accusations, Satan. Yes, the LORD, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebukes you. This man is like a burning stick that has been snatched from the fire." Zechariah 3:2
The Lord's rebuke paralyses hostile powers that seek to hurt His people. When you, as a child of God, rebuke the devil in the name of Jesus, it is just as if the Lord Himself did so.
In the present time, Satan still accuses the people of God, even when his accusation may be well founded on the strength of our misconduct, yet, because it sprang from malice, and directed against the people whom God has received on the basis of the meritorious work of His Son and not their personal merit, therefore, it is rejected and rendered untenable in the court of divine Justice.
God's elect will not to be abandoned to the consequences of their sins which are forgiven because of the sacrificial death of Jesus, nor will God's gracious purposes towards them be frustrated. "God hath not cast away his people, which he foreknew;" and, "Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect?" (Romans 8:33; Romans 11:2, 29).
We are a people plucked out of the fire of God's judgment through Jesus Christ, not to be judged again on account of what we do, however, the grace by which we are saved forbids us to take it for a licence to sin. It is important that we bear in mind that someday we will be called upon to give account of what we did in our bodies to the Lord. In this regard, life is a stewardship entrusted to us by God.
