Today, we conclude our series on bible prophecy as we look at the place
of America in bible prophecy. It is interesting to note that there's no
mention of America in the bible, but can we for this reason conclude
that it does not have a place in bible prophecy? When you look at the
prophets and all that they wrote about, you will find that little or
nothing is said about the church age, yet, embedded in the things they
said were the things that they didn't say about the church because it
was a mystery to them. They wrote so much about the ancient nations of
the world and their dealings with the nation of Israel, not just in the
past, but in future, yet, no mention of America was made in all of their
writings.
The Romans empire was the last world power before the church age. In the midst of this age comes a super power into the world stage who was never mentioned in ancient prophecy, just as the church wasn't. This super power was not in existence in bible days, yet, its coming has impacted upon the nation of Israel in no small measure, and helped to shape the future of Bible prophecy. This nation is America. It is the only nation in the world that is founded upon Judio Christian religious worldview, and more than any other nation, it has stood as an ally of the nation of Israel through the years.
In 1948, when the nation of Israel was reborn, as many ancient prophets prophesied that she would, America was the first country to recognise her as a sovereign nation. In all of Israel's wars with her hostile Arab neighbours, America has stood with her. The most recent remarkable role of America in bible prophecy is the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel. In the minds of many bible prophecy scholars, this is an outstanding event in bible prophecy because Jerusalem must be in complete control of the Jewish people when Jesus returns, therefore, President Trump's decision to move the American embassy to Jerusalem was a prophetic move. President Trump's friendship with Israel has caused many to rank him with King Cyrus in bible prophecy.
The question that has not been properly articulated and answered is whether America will remain a world power and continue to be Israel's ally until Christ's return. A strong economy is a condition for military power, and in the present time, America's economy is roaring, but for how long will this continue to be? The greatest threat facing America may not be an external one, but one from within. In the words of Jesus, a house divided against itself cannot stand; and this is the present state of America: a nation deeply and bitterly divided. If this division continues, can America survive? Will it not experience an implosion that will destroy the fabric of the nation?
In addition to the threat of the imminent fall of America, there's also a growing antisemitic sentiments in the nation like never before. It is feared that this may be the last generation of American leadership that will be positively disposed towards Israel. When this happens, as I believe it will, Israel will be left alone in the world, with no friend to help her in the hour of trouble. This will be the condition of Israel, having no friend in the world, when the battle of Armageddon, which is graphically described in Ezekiel chapters 38 & 39, takes place. America is playing its last role in bible prophecy, soon, it will not have the capacity to continue to defend Israel, nor the will to do so. This is because Israel will have to be in a helpless position so, that it will rely upon God alone for help in her hour of trouble.
