Bible Prophecy in Summary 3

After the fall of the Roman empire, nation states began to assert their sovereignty, and the race for a world power began among European nations. But none ever was able to gain control of the world. Twice, Germany attempted doing so, but failed.

On July 4, 1776, a major factor was introduced into bible prophecy, The United States of America was founded. This new nation is to play a major role in bible prophecy in contemporary time. In a subsequent post, we will look at the the role of America in bible prophecy.

The next phase of Bible prophecy is what is called the church age. This is the time in which God stopped dealing with Israel as a spiritual people, and began to deal with a new nation, called the church. But this must not be understood as meaning that God was done with Israel. An event is soon to take place which will remove the church from the earth in what is popularly known as the rapture.

Once the rapture takes place, then will begin the last seven years of human government on the earth. At that time, God will again resume His dealings with the nation of Israel. This is the time known, in prophecy colloquial, as the Great Tribulation. This period will be marked by the rise to power of the last world power known as the Antichrist. One of the outstanding events of this time is the issuance of the mark of the beast by which the followers of the Antichrist are branded. This time is also known in bible prophecy jargon as the time of Jacob's trouble because it will be a time when Israel as a nation will be judged by God for rejecting and killing its Messiah.

Israel, at this point in time, will be at the verge of total destruction by the army the Antichrist which will be constitusted of all armies of the world; this is when Israel will cry out to God for help, and to their utter dismay, it will be the Stone which they had rejected and crucified, two thousand years ago, that will be coming to rescue them from the hands of the Antichrist. More of this tomorrow.

In addition to judging Israel, it will also be a time when God will pour out His wrath upon all who rejected His offer of salvation in the person of His Son Jesus Christ.
