By the outpouring of the Spirit upon the church, the work of the ministry moved from the exclusive preserve of the ordained ministers, to the laity because everyone is filled with the Spirit of God unlike what obtained in the Old Covenant where only a collect group had the privilege of having the Holy Spirit. In the New Covenant, the work of the ministry belongs to the people, not the "clergy."
The work of the ministry belongs to all the people of God, but the work of equipping the saints for the work of the ministry belongs to God-appointed offices and ministries (Ephesians 4:7-16) known as the fivefold ministries given to the body as a gift from Jesus.
There are things that God can do only through you. The greatest of apostles cannot reach that person living in your corner, God has positioned you for that assignment and is depending on you to be revealed to that person in ways that He has prepared only you to do. The work of the fivefold ministries is to equip you to effectively make Christ known in your corner. When the work of reaching the world for Jesus is left to the 'great' men of God, then the world will be unreached.
You are the foot soldier in the army of God, and He is relying on you to be seen in your corner. You can do this by living a life that resembles the life of Jesus in words and deeds. When this happens, you have done your part in global evangelism. So awake to your responsibility and do the work.
