Make Calvary your Central Focus

For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 1 Corinthians 2:2

Constantly, in the Old Testament, the people were called to remember what God did for them, bringing them out of the land of Egypt. This became the reference point of God's kindness to them. Their response to what God commanded was an indication of their gratitude or ingratitude to God.

In the New Testament, the cross is to the believer what deliverance from Egypt was to Israel. The cross, like Israel's deliverance from Egypt, should be the central focus of the message to the church. Apostle Paul was mindful of this when he said to the church in Corinth that he determined to know nothing amongst them except Christ and Him crucified. To keep the cross out of view is to live like all other people of the world.

Are you thanking God today for the great things that He has done for you? Remember, this is the greatest of all things that He did: He gave His only begotten Son to die in your stead on the cross. If all you do in your devotion is thanking God for Calvary, you have done noble because every other thing you have received from God stems from this. At Calvary, an incredible exchange took place: Jesus died for your sin. God bless you as you make Calvary your central focus.
