Visions of God

"Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God." Ezekiel 1:1

Whenever the heavens open, we will see visions of God. We don't see visions of God because we have not come under the open heavens. When Jesus died on the cross and the veil was torn apart, the way into heaven was opened, but only as we approach Him by faith can we experience the open heavens and see visions of God. God desperately desires for reveal Himself to us, but our unbelief is His only inhibition. Apostle Paul experienced the open heavens and he saw visions that were too sacred to be uttered.

The much of God that we crave for is the measure of Him that will be revealed to us. They that hunger and thirst will be satisfied. God will not make Himself known to a person who is more interested in the things of this world than with the things of God and His personality. The psalmist could say that he saw the Lord standing before him. This could only happen because his highest longing was to see the Lord.

But besides the literal open heaven, we can experience a daily open heaven in His word in the same way that Samuel saw Him in the word. According to the apostle Peter, this is a more sure word of prophecy than even a literal open heaven, the type that they experienced on the mount of transfiguration.
