Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into
the holiest by the blood of Jesus... Let us draw near with a true heart
in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil
conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Hebrews 10:19, 22
Christ loved to be with us to the point that He was willing to suffer
what I call divine condescension, become a man, became sin, who knew no
sin, taste of death to make this desire of our being with Him possible.
This is the simple message of grace.
The cross also must remind us of the torn veil that signified that
the way into the presence of God has been eternally made open to all who
will come to Christ by faith. For all such people, God's presence is
available now, it is not something we pray to have. Jesus promised that
His presence will be with us at all times.
The presence of God is something that we have even now, and we are to
be thankful for it. We celebrate God's presence every moment of the
day. Sometimes we speak of the presence of God as if it is something
that we work up to come into. At other times, we sound as though the
presence of God is something that we persuade Him to release to us, but,
again, this is not true. God's presence is present to us at all times
waiting for us to come into. Hence the bible invites us to draw near to
God by faith.
God's presence cost Christ everything to make it possible, therefore
we must approach it with faith and assurance, knowing that Jesus died to
make possible our being in His presence. He loves to have us come into
His presence. So let's come.
