The poultry farm is an interesting environment. The poultry farmer cares for his farm and gives all attention required to ensure the chickens are in perfect condition and do not lack anything. However, there are two basic reasons for this expression of "love" to the chickens: (a) The poultry farmer wants to keep the chickens laying eggs, which put more money in his pocket (b) Or sell them to others who will slaughter them for consumption. Both ways, this special show of affection is NEVER for the ultimate benefit of the chickens. They are simply a means to an end. The moment the egg layers stop laying good eggs, they are sent to the slaughter slab.
There is a Nigerian proverb that says, "The love we have for the chicken is not genuine, the ultimate motive is to slaughter it." In the same vein, any time the farmer wants to entertain his friends and families, he simply walks into the poultry cage and picks any of the chickens.
The world is like the poultry farm and the devil, the poultry farmer. Jesus Christ, our Saviour calls him the prince of this world. From the point he was sent packing from the throne of God, he came down to the earth with great wrath: "Therefore, rejoice ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and of the sea for the devil is coming down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time" (Revelation 12:12).
From the moment the Devil deceived Adam and Eve, he took over the power given to man over the earth in Genesis 1:28: "And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth." Thus, the devil became the ruler and controller of the affairs of men in this world and by extension, every person came under the ruler ship and dominion of Satan. It does not matter how well or how badly you are doing: the CEO Of great company or a chieftaincy title holder, a clerk, a bus conductor or a driver. Every person that has not been set free from the devil's farm remains a chicken in the poultry farm of Satan. In John 10:9-11, Jesus says, "I am the door; by Me if any man enters in, he shall be saved, and he shall go in and out and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill and to destroy; I have come that they might have life, and that they have it more abundantly. I am the Good Shepherd who gives his life for the sheep."
Unlike the devil that takes our life at will for his benefit, Jesus gave His life for our benefits because He is the Good Shepherd. Jesus has already paid the price for our freedom from the devil's poultry cage but you need to take advantage of His work of grace consciously so that you might be able to walk out of his cage. Every extra day you spend on earth without accepting the price already paid for your freedom is exposing you to the danger of being slaughtered.
Today is the acceptable day of the Lord for your freedom so that you will be able to say like Jesus in John 14:30, "… for the prince of this world cometh. And hath nothing in me."
To accept this work of freedom is very simple. It is this simplicity that confounds and confuses those who claim to be wise. Simply say this prayer of confession:
"Lord Jesus, I choose to accept Your work of freedom. Today, I come to You with my heart. Accept me as your child. Cleanse me from all my sins, which have kept me in the bondage of Satan. Deliver me today and become my Lord and Saviour. I submit and surrender my heart to You. Give me the power to become Your child today."
