Waiting for Luck and People

In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the waterJohn 5:3

This verse describes the condition of the human race waiting for luck to happen, instead of looking to God for the needed change. To a man crippled by disease, who was awaiting the chance of luck, Jesus came to and tried to draw his attention away from the futility of awaiting luck for the needed change. The man, having been in that situation for a long time, finds it difficult understanding Jesus. He complains that he hadn't been lucky enough to enter the pool each time the water was stirred because he had no one to help him. In this man's case, we see the dual condition of man's misery: depending on man, and waiting for luck.

But all the while that he was waiting for luck and lamenting his lack of man, the Lord was reaching out to him. Things are the same with us, all the while that we are looking for who to help us, and hoping that luck will shine on us, God has been reaching out to us with His love. What we need are God's favour, not luck, and God's Son, not a man.
