But go and show yourself to the priest, and make an offering for your cleansing, as a testimony to them, just as Moses commanded. Luke 5:14
Apart
from the manmade traditions of the elders, Jesus respected every
ordinance of the Old Testament. There is no instance where He
disregarded the true ordinance of the law, however, when the law was
misinterpreted, He stood against such misinterpretation, and it was in
this regard that He had His brush with the elders of the Jews who He
accused of exalting the traditions of men above the word of God.
Sadly,
the same thing happens today in some circles where tradition, rather
than the word of God is held for doctrine, and many such lifeless
doctrines have passed for the word of God making the word of God of no
effect. Those who disdain the Old Testament are not like Jesus because
Jesus had great regard for the scriptures of the Old Testament. The New
Testament scriptures, when well understood, will be seen to have their
foundation in the Old Testament scriptures. To deny the Old Testament is
not to have the New Testament, because the latter can only be true
because the former is true.
