What you Tell People about Jesus is Important

And when the centurion heard of Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders to Him, requesting Him to come and make his bond servant wellLuke 7:3

This centurion heard about Jesus,  and in the time of need, he sent to Him for help. To him, Jesus ascribed great faith. But what was his faith journey like? First, we are told that he heard of Jesus. We are not told what exactly he was told about Jesus, but whatever he was told inspired faith, hope, and confidence in him to prompt him to send for Jesus to come and heal his dying servant. It is important what we tell people about Jesus, because sometimes their faith may depend entirely on what we tell them about Jesus.

It is possible that the centurion heard people talking about the miraculous powers that worked in Jesus to heal the sick, so, when he sent for Jesus, his faith had an objective end in mind, "that He would come and heal his servant". And it was this objective end of his faith that happened to him: his servant was healed.

So, what exactly do we say about Jesus to those we speak to? Sometimes, it may just be as simple as inviting them to a church service where truth is taught, which may inspire them to desire to hear the words of Jesus. Whatever it is we tell them must be in accordance with the truth of Jesus, taught in the scriptures. Philip said to Nathaniel, "come and see," and that was enough to bring him to Christ. In a manner of speaking, what we fail to tell people about Jesus may be that aspect of Him they may never experience, therefore, it is important that we present the person and works of Jesus Christ to our audience. You never can tell what God will use to captivate their attention. God bless you.
