Threatened by their Teaching

"We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name," he said. "Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man's blood." Acts 5:28 NIV

What, in your view, do you think is the greatest threat to the enemies of the gospel? Is it a great oratorical preaching ability, or the workings of miracles, or the teaching of the gospel truth? Often we are wont to believe that the high sounding, mountain shaking, demon casting ministry is what threatens the kingdom of darkness, but this is different from what the bible shows us.  On the contrary, the simple teaching of the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ poses more threat to satan's kingdom than anything else we can do. The reason simply being that when people are taught, they become more deeply rooted in the truth learned. The enemy of the gospel, therefore, will not mind a situation where everything else is done in the church apart from teaching the truth of the gospel.

Satan loves it when Christians preoccupy themselves with hypes that only leave the people excited, but not rooted in the basic doctrines of Christ, which can only result from a culture of teaching, like the apostles did. If we are going to see the kind of revival witnessed by the apostolic church, then we must like them, return to teaching of the gospel truths because the gospel is the power of God to save sinners.
