Is the Antivirus Vaccine the Mark of the Beast, 666?

He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheadsRevelation 13:16

There has been much speculation about the coronavirus vaccine being developed, that it is the mark of the beast spoken of in Revelation 13:16. But is there any scriptural evidence to validate this claim, or is it another conspiracy theory?

A vaccine is a harmless form of germs that is causing a particular disease. It is usually given to people through injection to prevent the disease. This, in its simplest terms, is what a vaccine is. The mark of the beast, on the other hand, is a mark that will be received on the right hand or the forehead in the day that it is introduced.

There are people who are making the claim that the vaccine being developed is actually a subtle way of introducing the mark of the beast into the world. My object in writing this article is to look at this claim through the lens of scripture, and see if it has any merit. So, let's take a look at the projected time, according to the bible, when the mark will be introduced, and see if it matches our present time. In doing this, we must note that the mark of the beast,  Antichrist, will not precede the beast; that is to say that the Antichrist, whose mark it will be, would have been revealed before the mark is introduced. The mark, according to the bible, will be introduced almost three and half years after the Antichrist has been revealed.

And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. Revelation 13:5

In the day that the mark is introduced, the identity of the Antichrist will be common knowledge, because according to 2 Thessalonians 2:3, he would have been revealed. There will be no speculation about who he is, he will be known by all who live in the world of that day. And since there is no person on the earth today that fits the identity of the Antichrist enumerated in 2 Thessalonians 2:4, all talk about who the Antichrist is, at this time, will be mere speculation.

The next thing to note about the mark of the beast is that those who will take it will be lost forever, but there will be no such consequence for those who will take the vaccine in this time, even if it was introduced today. Those who will take the mark of the beast, when it comes, will not be ignorant of the consequence of receiving it. God would have warned them as seen below.

"Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, "If anyone ...receives his mark ...he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God... He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night ...whoever receives the mark of his name." Revelation 14:9-11

But everyone can avoid being here in the day when the mark of the beast is introduced by simply believing in Jesus Christ now, and leave this world by the rapture.

Finally, in the day that the mark of the beast is introduced, the church of Jesus Christ will not be on the earth, and since the church has not yet been taken out of the world, the mark of the beast cannot be administered.

In conclusion, it will not be true to say that the proposed vaccine will be the mark of the beast. There must be other reasons for not accepting to take the vaccine (such as the possible side effects that taking it will have) when it is introduced, but that it is the mark of the beast should not be one of such reasons. For the better part, most of these vaccine postulations making the rounds are conspiracy theories that have no merit when examined under the lens of scripture.
