Those Bought by Christ

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 1 Corinthians 6:19

Clearly, the bible teaches that Christ purchased us with His blood. This is incontrovertible facts that all who believe agree on, but what does not seem to be very obvious is the reality of this truth in the way we live this purchased life. The consequence of being purchased is that we become the property of the one who paid the price. Ownership is often transferred upon the payment of the price; it is abnormal for a purchased slave to continue to live as though he is still the owner and master of himself.

Everyone that makes a purchase hopes to enjoy what he paid for, and the same is true for God. It is His desire to enjoy us whom He purchased with the blood of His only begotten Son. A life lived in the will of God testifies that God is worthy to enjoy the life that He bought with the blood of His Son.

It cannot be overstated that the object of everything purchased should be to give pleasure to the one who paid the price. In the context of our being bought by Christ, the object is that in us, God will be glorified (1 Corinthians 10:31). What this implies for us is that in everything, we must live in such ways that give God glory. This way, we show that truly our lives are serving the purpose for which we were purchased. To live differently is not to understand that one has been bought, and that one is no longer his own master and owner.

"And He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again." 2 Corinthians 5:15
