Christ Revealed IN, versus Christ Revealed TO

"But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:" Galatians 1:15-16

It is important that we distinguish revealing His Son IN me, and revealing His Son TO me. This is a distinction that we often don't consider as important, but it is. When the Son is revealed IN a person, His glory is seen through the person's life, but when the Son is revealed TO a person, His glory is revealed to him. For example, on the way to Damascus, the glory of Christ was revealed to Saul and it resulted in his salvation. According to Paul, God called him by His grace; by this calling by the grace of God, Christ was revealed (made known) to Paul, then known as Saul; but the ultimate purpose of making Christ known to him was to reveal Christ in him. This process of making Christ known in us is something that continues in life to the degree that we allow the Holy Spirit to direct our walk. When Christ is revealed in us, those who meet us inevitably meet Christ.

The Son, revealed in a person, is an inner work done in the heart of the person by the Holy Spirit. But when the Son is revealed to a person, it is the external manifestation of the person of Christ, and this is done unto justification, while the former is done unto sanctification. This is God's design for all who are called to Christ, that Christ is progressively revealed in them. Christ is revealed IN those who are already saved, but He is revealed TO those who are not yet saved in order to make Him known to them.
