Getting the 'now' word from God 2

When logos becomes rhema

We have said that logos is the written word of God, but many times, He takes the logos and speak directly to our present circumstances, personalizing what was written in a different historical context, and making it a sure guide for our present need. I am sure that this has happened to you before, without any premeditation, a passage of scripture lights up in your mind, or comes to your remembrance (Acts 11:16). This is different from trying to remember a scripture from memory. At such times, it is God, by His Spirit, raising the word in your mind with no effort from you.

The Bible says that when the enemy comes against us as a flood, the Spirit will raise a standard against him. In the wilderness, when Jesus was tempted, this scripture was fulfilled. Since we know that Jesus did nothing apart from the Spirit, therefore, we know that it was the Spirit that took the logos, and when Jesus spoke them out, they became life, and by them, the enemy was thrashed. But this could only happen because Jesus had the logos in His heart. The Spirit does not manufacture the logos, He only lifts that which is in our hearts.

Renewed mind

A renewed mind is fundamental to receiving rhema (Romans 12:2). The renewed mind is the display screen of our reborn human spirit, but the data on display is from the Holy Spirit. It is important to note that this information on display is not FROM our mind, it is only IN our mind. Next, it is equally important to emphasise that the information on display is not received by reasoning, recall from memory, or premeditation, it is intuitively received without conscious reasoning; it is a sensing of something in our spirit that finds expression in our renewed minds. This way, the renewed mind serves as a go between the spirit and the body. When this happens, we become momentarily aware of a string of thoughts and imaginations, and these can be relied upon for spiritual guidance. This is an interjection from our spirit man of thoughts and imaginations into the realm of the mind.

Guidance of the Holy Spirit

God has given us His Spirit who guides us into all truth. He provides this guidance by the use of different indications, sometimes called the prompting of the Spirit. I have a book, Identifying the Voice of God, that has detailed information about the subject of recognising the voice of God. It will soon be available on Amazon.
