Walking through the Wilderness of this World

God has prepared a resting place for His children who have toiled through the wilderness of this world and come home (1 Corinthians 2:9). Knowing that God has prepared a rest for us which can only be entered into through faith, helps us to endure every tribulation that can possibly come to us as we journey back home to our loving heavenly Father who is waiting to receive us into His glory.

The joy of the traveller is not in the journey, which is often very inconveniencing and rift with its ups and downs, but rather, the rest and comfort that home promises and provides when he arrives. We, as believers in Christ, are sojourners walking through this enemy territory called this world; God has not promised us the comforts of heaven on earth, rather He makes available such things that are necessary for the journey. Only in heaven is there the fullness of joy and pleasures for evermore. Sadly, pressures of this present world have almost been allowed to snuff out the vision of a coming glory from the minds of many believers. I pray that the Lord will awake this vision in us, and to begin with me!

God allows what we call sufferings to happen to His children, in part, to indicate to them that they are not home yet, the absence of which will breed complacency. However, walking through the wilderness of this world, and faced with its diverse challenges, the children of God can look to the hope of the glory of God, and find strength to continue and finish the journey, and to stand before the Father of glory who has been waiting to receive them into His glorious kingdom. Hallelujah!
