"By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God." Romans 5:2
The word glory, means overwhelming splendour. Moses asked God to show him His glory, and God told him that no one can see Him and live. In other words, His glory and Him are the same. When Adam sinned, he lost the overwhelming splendour of God. WHATEVER HAS BEEN TOUCHED BY SIN CANNOT ENDURE THE SIGHT OF THE GLORY OF GOD, but when we shall have put off mortality, having a life fitted for the glory, we shall see Him as He is, in all His majestic splendour.
There is, however, a sense in which God has revealed His glory in created things. The heavens declare the glory of God. Everything beautiful and majestic that is beheld on the earth is a reflection of the infinite glory of God which He allows us a peep into, yet, we are not able to comprehend all of the glory in created things. If this is true of the works of His hands, how much more glorious will He be, who made them?
It is this overwhelming glory of God that our hope, as believers in Christ, is looking forward to, that is, Christ in us the hope of glory. When we know of this hope, we will live differently in this present world, just as the early followers of Jesus did. It is not surprising, therefore, that Apostle John would admonish all who have this hope to purity themselves, even as He is pure. Today, we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God that will be revealed in, and, to us when now comes to an end, and all of these, because the Son of God became a man and died in our place. Thank you Jesus!
