Our Broken Humanity

We all are born with sin as our first inheritance, this, must be understood, is not the doing of God, it is a result of the fall. Our humanity was corrupted when sin came, and we became a broken people needing to be mended. In everyone of us, this brokenness is manifested differently. In some, it takes the form of violence, in others, it is lying, and in some, heterosexual immorality, and in other, homosexual tendencies.

All of these are indications of the brokenness of the corruption in our humanity, but to conclude that any of these tendencies is how God created us is to misrepresent the original creation of God. In Genesis chapter one, after God had finished the work of creation, He looked at everything that He had made, and said that it was very good. There was nothing in creation that was broken, everything was very good. But not too long, sin came into creation by the disobedience of Adam and Eve resulting in the present broken state of humanity.

Man was lost, and only a perfect sacrifice could bring him back to God, and since all humans had been touched by sin, there was none among the sons of men who could serve as a perfect sacrifice, therefore, God, in His love for lost humanity, sent His only begotten Son into the world to be the perfect, sinless sacrifice for the sin of the world. Now, through faith in the finished work of Christ on the cross, all can be brought back to God. It will be strange for a thief who repents to continue stealing with the claim that this was how God created him. True repentance produces fruit that testifies to the change that has taken place on the inside. As true as this for stealing, so it is for every manner of immorality, whether it is heterosexual or homosexual immorality.
