Delivered from Judgment

In the night when the angel of death went through Egypt and killed the first born of the Egyptians, every Israelite first born was secured under the blood of the Passover Lamb. We must emphasise that the Israelite first born was not secured from judgment because of anything that he did, it was entirely because of the grace of God that he was spared, therefore, he could have nothing to boast about (Ephesians 2:8-9). Like the Israelites under the blood were delivered from judgment, those under the blood of the Son of God are delivered from the wrath of God to come by Jesus Christ ((1 Thessalonians 5:10).

But the story of deliverance did not end with the death of the Passover Lamb, the Israelites were required to put leaven away from their domains. In eating the flesh of the Passover Lamb, they were not to be associated with leaven, which is a type of sin. In the New Testament, we who are saved by the blood of the Son of God are required to put all sin away from us. It is, however, to be noted that we are not saved because we have put sin out, but because having been saved from sin, we ought to live holy unto God as people who have been delivered from their sins.

Those of us who have been saved from out sins are called to a holy communion with our Saviour, which is made possible only by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. To neglect this, is to live as all others live, in the energy of the flesh.
