When we are reproached for the name of Christ, it must be settled in our minds who the target of the reproach is aimed at: Christ. But at the end of such a life lived for the glory of God, glory awaits us. Knowing this, we should be happy when we are so reproached. This is the story of the apostles of Jesus Christ when they mistreated by the elders of Israel because of their faith in Christ: they rejoiced that they were counted worthy to suffer for the name of Jesus Christ.
The problem that we often have is twofold, not knowing the glory in bearing reproach for Christ, and not setting our focus on eternity. Apostle Paul, in 2 Corinthians 4:17-18, confirmed this when he said, "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal." In Matthew chapter five, Jesus told His disciples to rejoice when they are persecuted for His name sake because great is their reward in heaven. So, are you reproached for Christ's sake? Then be happy because great will be your reward in heaven.
