There are people who do not believe that God still speaks to us today. For them, whatever God wanted to tell us, He has put in the bible, therefore, if you want hear from God, just go to the bible. This position is fraught with many difficulties. For example, where in the bible can I find the exact decision to make regarding the person to marry or whether or not I should proceed on a journey?
The truth is that the bible gives us a broad revelation regarding how to conduct our lives God-ward, and people-ward, but regarding those daily decisions of what to do or where to go, God has given us His Holy Spirit to guide us. As we learn to follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit in our daily walk, we can confidently assert that God has spoken to us, or better still, that God has directed us by His Spirit.
