Miracles and Personal Responsibility

Miracles, when they happen, do not override the factor of personal responsibility. When Jesus healed the crippled, it was always the responsibility of the person healed to rise up and walk (Mark 2:12-13). Jesus never walked for the person, He only healed the person.

When Peter told the lame man at the gate Beautiful to rise up and walk, it was obvious that the man was reasoning like some of us, waiting for the power of God to carry him up, so Peter reached out and pulled him up, yet, it was him that had to leap and jump, not Peter.

We must be careful not to wait for miracles to do that part which is our responsibility to do. This, perhaps, is the main reason why many people in church are not experiencing the power of God, it is not because the power of God has not touched them, but because they have failed to take account of the fact that the power of God does not override the factor of personal responsibility.

Have you been prayed for? Then, stir yourself, and move, then, rise up and walk!
