Created Perfect, but Born with a Genetic Defect

"This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him... And Adam lived a hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth." Genesis 5:1, 3

When God created man, he was made perfect, nothing was needing to be improved, he saw life from the perspective of God, but this state of perfection was altered by the disobedience of Adam and Eve. From that time going, the perfect human nature became corrupted, and when the Bible gave the genealogy of Adam, it could not be said of his children that they were born in the image of God, but rather in the image of Adam. First, we are told of Adam, "In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him", then, regarding the child that Adam begat, we are told that he "begot a son in his own likeness, after his image".

We must emphasize that the brokenness of the human race is not a defect of creation, it is one of birth. It is for this reason that, in restoring man to fellowship with God, it has to be through another birth. In John 3:3, Jesus said that except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. There is nothing good in the first birth because it has been touched by sin. No amount of reformation can deliver it from its genetic corruption inherited from Adam, only a new birth can rid mankind of this genetic defect. This new birth, which is often called the born again experience, is aptly described in 2 Corinthians 5:17.

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." In Christ, the genetic defect is done away with, and a completely new life is made possible for anyone who believes. This can be your lot today by simply believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and confessing Him as Lord with your mouth. When you do this, there is no sin, no matter how big, that can keep you from getting saved.
