From start to finish, it must be understood
that worship belongs to God alone, He is categorical about this when He said
that He will not share His glory and praise with any. But sadly, this truth has
not been fully understood by His people. When we come to the place of worship,
we must realize that it is not about us, it is about God. This is the heart of
worship. To cumber our time of worship with things that pertain to us is first
proof that we do not understand the essence of worship to be exclusively God's.
At other times, you hear people complain that they didn't enjoy the praise and worship as though it was directed at them. Yes, we are to enjoy worshipping God, but we are not in the position to judge the quality of worship, that is the exclusive preserve of God. Whatever shifts the attention from God to anything has corrupted worship, and such will not be acceptable to God. During this most sacred time of worship, we must not mingle our personal needs with the worship of God. Our worship leaders should learn to choose songs that don't turn attention away from God to anything, and know that not every good sounding song is good for worship. A look at the worship sessions recorded in the book of Revelation will serve as a proper guide for worship. In all of them, God is the central focus of the worshippers.
