The Day of the Lord's Vengeance

I will punish the world for its evil, And the wicked for their iniquity; I will halt the arrogance of the proud, And will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. I will make a mortal more rare than fine gold, A man more than the golden wedge of Ophir. Therefore I will shake the heavens, And the earth will move out of her place, In the wrath of the Lord of hosts And in the day of His fierce anger. Isaiah 13:11-14

The things that God says He will do when the day of the Lord comes:
1. “I will punish the world for its evil".
2. "I will halt the arrogance of the proud"
3. "I will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible."
4. "I will make a mortal more rare than fine gold."
5. "I will shake the heavens, And the earth will move out of her place."

He will do all of these in His wrath in the day of His fierce anger.

At what point in this age will God do all of these things? It will be in the day of the Lord.

1. God assures us that He will punish the world for its evil. It is comforting to know that evil will not go unpunished. And let's be clear, this is not the punishment in hell, it is one that will happen here in this world. Today, the wicked dares God to do His worst and pokes his finger on His face. And they imagine that there will be no day of reckoning, when the Judge of the earth will hold them liable for their wickedness. That day is fast approaching. It is called the day of His wrath. Of this day, Jesus, in Luke 21:36, said, "Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man." This gives hope of escape for some people.

2. On that day, God promises that He will put to stop the arrogance of the proud. All those who pride in rebelling against God will have a taste of what it means to be an enemy of God. In that day, their pride will come to nought. What a day that will be.

3. In that day, God will bring down the haughtiness of world dictators. No one will be spared in that day.

4. In that day, it will be easier to find gold than humans. This is because there will be such depletion of the world population by acts of the judgment of God. The earth, in that day, will be a mass grave.

5. The heavens and the earth will be shaken so that only the things that are of God will remain.

The earth will be a fearful place to be in in that day. It is interesting to see that what the prophets of the Old Testament predicted about the day of the Lord entirely agree with the prophecy of Apostle John in the book of Revelation.

But why is it important that these truths are made known to us today? It is because we are living in the time when the age is closing in, and it may not be long, and all of these things prophesied will be fulfilled. But since God has made a promise that some will escape all these things that are surely going to come upon this world, then, the wise will take it to heart and repent, and turn to God now.
