"For he that has died is freed from sin." Romans 6:7
One truth that Apostle Paul strove to pass across to his audience is that those who are in Christ died on the cross with Christ. Since death frees from sin, such people are no longer tied to sin which once enslaved them. Having died with Christ, they are now alive with Him through the resurrection from the dead. The new life that we have in Christ implies new appetites. Appetites of righteousness implanted into us by the Holy Spirit in the form of holy dispositions.
As we yield to the Holy Spirit, we will discover that more and more, we will be disposed to doing righteousness. This is the walk of those who have been crucified with Jesus. According to Romans 6:4, we are to walk in the newness of life because we have been raised from the dead by the glory of the Father. Knowing that we died with Christ is the antidote to sin because they that are dead are freed from sin.
