And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
In
praying for the church in Philippi, the apostle invoked the God who he
served. When he said, my God shall supply all your needs, he meant that
the God, whom they served by way of ministering to his needs, will meet
with them, according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. The import
of this is that when we minister to the needs of a true servant of God,
it is really God that we are serving. If those who support true servants
of God know this truth, they will do what they are doing now
differently.
This
also is fascinating, they gave to Paul according to their own riches,
yet, God was going to supply their own needs according to His own riches
in glory. When you consider the limitless riches of God, you will never
again doubt how He will meet your needs when you have served Him in
supporting His servant. Think about this, the silver and gold belong to
Him; the wealth invested in the air, land and sea, are all His. If He
reveals some of them to even those that don't honour Him, how much more
those who honour Him, and support His righteous cause? Paul's prayer for
the Philippines is still potent today for those who will like the
Philippines minister to the needs of God's servant that are ministering
to their spiritual needs. The God of the commission you support will
support you too.
