As He went out of the Temple

"And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!" Mark 13:1

At the time of Mark 13:1, Israel had rejected Jesus, and the only One that signified the presence of God in the temple had just walked out of it. In an Old Testament parlance, we can, with all certainly, say, Icabod! The glory of God left the temple the moment that Jesus walked out of it for the last time. Any activity that was carried out in the temple after the exit of Jesus was mere formality and empty rituals. What remained for Israel was the sure judgment of God that began with the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple by the Romans in AD 70. From that time on, in the history of the Israelites, it was one calamity upon another, and yet, the worst is yet to come. All because they rejected the Messiah.

The absence of Jesus in any life is the absence of the glory of God because Jesus is the glory and image of the invisible God. On the other hand, when Jesus comes into a person's life, it is the coming of the glory of God. This is the unspeakable harm that those who reject Jesus bring to themselves: wilful rejection of the glory of God.

We are not yet speaking of the danger of eternal ruin that rejecting Jesus eventually brings about; in this present life, the glory of God in a person's life brings unspeakable joy, and I wonder why anyone who is thinking rationally about his personal welfare will deliberately reject such source of unspeakable joy. But the reason why people do this is because they are blinded by the god of this world so that they do not see the glorious light of the gospel Jesus Christ.

What is your present position with Jesus? Are you rejecting Him, and assume that you are doing so because of any rational reason? Alas! You have been deceived and blinded by the devil whose aim is to keep you away from the eternal joy that this glory will bring you, and then damn your soul in hell fire. This is a scary possibility, and if you do nothing now, I am afraid, it will become your eternal reality. So, act now! The door into the glory of God is still open.
