If God is for us, who can be against us? --Romans 8:31
Are there times in this life when it seems as though everything is
gone against you? We all have been through such times, or may be going
through such times now. But what a comfort to hear God say to us at such
times that if He is for us, who can be against us? Those things that we
think are against us are only seemingly so, because if God is for us,
who or what can successfully be against us?
In the words of the apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 4:17, "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,"
we understand that those things which seem to be working against us are
actually working for us. But what are they working for us? According to
Paul, they are working for us things that exceed everything that can
possibly be gotten in this place.
But remember, this is a promise that works for those that God is for.
Such are those who have come to His Son Jesus Christ for shelter. For
such, nothing can be against, because God is for them. If you are in
Christ, then, nothing can be against you. This is comforting.
