By Life or by Death

"For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." Philippians 1:21

By life or by death, I will declare Jesus with all boldness, for me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If to live means being apart from Christ, then death, which results from following Him, is great gain. If to live is Christ, then living for anything other than Christ is a wasted life; a life without purpose and direction; a lame and limp life.

If to die is gain, then why fear death if it brings me into the greatest gain of Christian faith: being with Jesus? But as long as one is in love with this life, death can never be seen as gain. If to die is gain, how can I be threatened with death, which is gain? Our fear of death is a testimonial of our love of life. Those who truly know that death is gain do not fear to die; but the gain in death is only true for those who are living for Christ.

When Christians fear death, it shows that they have not totally believed the bible. For if I see death as gain, and it is, the fear of it will cease to hunt me. As we gain a deeper understanding of the gains of grace, death will cease to be a threat as it is to many of us in Christ.

In life or in death, we have no loss,  because in living, we have Jesus, in dying, we will be with Him. Which ever way it goes, we gain. Praise God!
