When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and
his officials changed their minds about them and said, “What have we
done? We have let the Israelites go and have lost their services!”
Exodus 14:5 | NIV
Egypt typifies the world, and pharaoh typifies satan. The world
clings to our minds, wanting to control us by causing us to conform to
our the pattern of life we once lived by, and on his part, Satan, even
when we have been set free from his dominion, never gives up trying to
enslave us again. He still wants to regain his dominion over us, and he
strives to accomplish this by subtle means.
Hear pharaoh, "What have we done? We have let the Israelites go and
have lost their services!” This is exactly how satan feels when he
looses a soul to the kingdom of God, and when this happens, he does
everything in his power to reinstate his rule over them again. But we
must follow the injunction of Romans 12:2 and refuse to be conformed to
the pattern of this world; but renew our minds and deliberately allow
the Holy Spirit to guide us through the word of God. This way, we are
able to frustrate every attempt by satan to regain dominion over us
again. This is the life (following the Spirit) to which God has called
every one of His children, and it is a winning way.
