But first, go to the hills and get wood for my temple, so I can take pride in it and be worshiped there. Haggai 1:8
Think
through, in which aspect of your life are you not putting God first? In
such areas, you are bound to suffer some repercussions. For the Jews,
the consequences of not putting God first were dire: "You have planted
much but harvest little. You eat but are not satisfied. You drink but
are still thirsty. You put on clothes but cannot keep warm. Your wages
disappear as though you were putting them in pockets filled with holes!"
Verse 6.
"You hoped for rich harvests, but
they were poor. And when you brought your harvest home, I blew it away.
Why? Because my house lies in ruins, says the LORD of Heaven's Armies,
while all of you are busy building your own fine houses." Verse 9
It's because of you that the heavens withhold the dew and the earth produces no crops. Verse 10.
Verse
10 makes it clear that there are things we do here on earth that affect
what happens in heaven, therefore, it becomes our duty to find out from
scripture what such earthly actions are that affect heaven's response
to us. When we put God first here on earth, heaven puts our affairs
first and cause its blessings to come to us. This is the law of heaven.
Jesus taught that when we seek first the kingdom of God and His
righteousness, all things will be added to us.
Also
it is important that we know that every place where God is not put in
the first position attracts the enemy who comes to steal, kill and
destroy. We harm ourselves when we give first place to anything but God.
When God seats in His rightful place in our lives, angels attend to us,
because their work is to serve God in our lives.
