Salvation is free, the Son of God paid for us to be forgiven by shedding
His blood on the cross. There's nothing we can add to what He did on
the cross to make it better, the only thing required of us is simply to
agree with God that the sacrifice of His only begotten Son is sufficient
to procure forgiveness for our sins. It is this agreement that is
sometimes called faith, which is trust in what God has done for us in
Christ. This trust is what makes the death of Jesus Christ on the cross
our personal benefit. Those who deny the sufficiency of the sacrifice of
Jesus Christ cannot benefit from it.
