"And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power." Colossians 2:10
Nothing
can be more certain than the fact of our completeness in Christ. The
apostle Paul left no room for debate regarding this very important truth
about our completeness in Christ when he said to the Colossians, "And
ye are complete in him". This truth about our completeness in Christ
implies that there is no one who is more complete than the other in
Christ.
Infant and adult humans are equally in their humanity. The adult, cannot
by his maturity become more human, nor can the infant by his immaturity
become less human. Though there are many things that the adult will
enjoy which the infant cannot enjoy because of his infancy.
The same is true for everyone who is in Christ. No one can be more "In Christ" than another. We all share the same new nature, however, there are different levels of benefits that different people enjoy based on their commitment to Christ. We all are in one body, with one head over all. Our human frailties and experiences do not diminish our membership of the body of Christ. All who are in Christ are complete, maturity does not make anyone more complete. And we can never be more complete than we were when we came to Christ.
This completeness has nothing to do with what good we have done, it is based entirely on what Christ accomplished on the cross. How does God see us in Christ? As He sees Christ, for as He is so are we. If Christ is complete, so are we complete; if Christ is righteous, so are we. Whatever is true of Christ is true of us because we are complete in Him.
