Before the cross, the law held everyone captive under condemnation,
awaiting execution, but when Christ offered up His life as a ransom for
sin of the world, the prison gates of divine justice were opened up to
as many people as will accept God's offer of salvation through Christ.
Sadly, there are still many people sitting in the prison room trying to get out by some form of good works when the only thing required of them is to believe. Are you today in the prison room that its gate is open? Only two things can keep you there, ignorance or unbelief. Today, you are rid of the first hindrance because now you know that God has done what is needed to open the prison gate. What is left is for you to walk out of the the room, and this can only be done by you believing. So, take your first step into freedom from the tyranny of sin: just believe!
