Proclaimers of His Praises

But you are a chosen generation a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light. 1 Peter 2:9

To proclaim is to declare publicly, typically insistently, proudly, or defiantly and in either speech or writing. This is what we who are called out of darkness are called to do with regards to the praises of God. It is not a silent endeavour, we are to noise it abroad and let it be known that our Redeemer lives, whose going forth is of old from everlasting. Jesus is the object of our praises and reason for our exultation.

An uninformed person, watching us exult in the ecstasy of praises to Jesus, may wonder at our exhilarating praise for Jesus; we will be quick to tell him that once we were not a people, but are now the people of God, and we who had not obtained mercy now have obtained mercy, and all of these because the Son of God accepted to come into this world as a man to die on the cross for sons of dust like us. This is why we proclaim His praises to the high heavens and across the earth, singing, "there's no one, there's no one like Jesus, there's no one there's no one like Him..."

Have you met Him, and will you not praise Him? Or maybe you have not met Him yet, so you can't understand why we break our alabaster jars and empty our costly spikenarde ointment upon our wonderful Redeemer. But I just told you why, and the same can be your experience if you will believe that God raised Him from the dead.
