The Question Everyone must Answer

"And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ." Mark 8:29

To different people, Jesus is different things. But it is not what others think about Jesus that matters, the question of who Jesus is is a personal question that each of us must give serious contemplation and come to a personal conclusion of. In the days of Jesus, different people had different views of who Jesus was. For some, He was the reincarnation of John the Baptist; to others, He was one of the the ancient prophets, reincarnated.

But Jesus went beyond what others thought of Him, and asked to know what His disciples thought of Him. It is a very personal matter. To His question, Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." So, who is Jesus to you? If Jesus is merely a good man to you, or a great prophet, as some assume that He is; or a great worker of miracles; or a great teacher of the word of God. If any or all these is all that Jesus is to you, then, you have a Jesus that is incapable of saving you because that makes Him to be like any other man with the power of God.

To believe in a Jesus who is not the Son of the living God, is to believe in another Jesus. The revelation of the saving Jesus is one of true God and true man. The Jesus that saves is 100% God and 100% man. This is the only way that He can be the perfect mediator between God and man. If you are thinking correctly of Jesus, you cannot but see Him as true God and true man. This is the Jesus that saves.
